WebGL fluid simulation modes
A mode is a bundle of fluid simulation settings, not just a new color swatch. Water, fire, ink, and calm each change fade speed, swirl, and bloom together, so the canvas feels different from the very first stroke.
Every mode runs on the same real-time WebGL fluid simulation engine as the homepage canvas. Pick a look, paint right away, and open Advanced only when you want finer changes.
Water
Water mode lowers fade speed and keeps swirl moderate, so strokes keep moving like a sheet of something wet instead of vanishing after one pass. Bloom stays low and soft for gentle highlights rather than glare.
Open water fluid simulation when a cooler, wetter look is the point. The mode page has tips and FAQs for that feel.
- Lower fade for trails that last
- Moderate swirl so eddies stay smooth, not chaotic
- Cooler color bias when colorful mode runs
Fire
Fire mode raises fade speed so strokes lift and burn out quickly, the way real heat does. Swirl runs higher for restless, jittery edges, and bloom pushes brighter cores so hot spots actually read as hot.
Open fire mode for flame and smoke style motion, or compare it against water mode to see the same engine pull in the opposite direction.
- Faster fade for rising, disappearing heat
- Higher swirl for wild, restless edges
- Strong bloom for glowing cores
Ink
Ink mode keeps dye on screen far longer and runs swirl at a medium setting, so ribbons of color stay readable instead of smearing into one blur. Colorful mode stays on by default for shifting hues as you paint.
Open ink mode when the goal is a picture worth a screenshot, not just motion to watch.
- Low fade so ink stays visible
- Medium swirl for flowing, legible ribbons
- Colorful strokes tuned for paint-like sessions
Calm
Calm mode lowers swirl and softens every stroke's force, so the field settles instead of churning. Fade stays mild and bloom stays soft, with nothing sharp enough to feel busy on a quiet screen.
Open calm mode for ambient background motion, or pair it with Immersive mode to hide the site chrome entirely.
- Low swirl for smooth, settled motion
- Gentle fade that avoids a busy screen
- Soft bloom instead of sharp glare
Questions
No. Every mode runs the same real-time WebGL fluid solver. Only the starting settings for fade, swirl, bloom, and color behavior change.
Yes. Preset chips on any live page apply a new mode at once, and each mode URL opens with that preset already running.
Start with Water or Calm for smooth, easy motion. Try Fire once you want faster, busier strokes, and Ink when you want a picture to stay readable long enough to screenshot.
